DIGITAL PRESERVATION POLICY

To ensure the long-term accessibility and integrity of its published content, Nexus Científico Multidisciplinary Journal en Ingeniería y Tecnología implements a comprehensive digital preservation strategy, which includes:

  • Regular backups: Periodic backups of servers and files are conducted to prevent data loss.

  • Ongoing system updates: The Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform is regularly maintained and updated to prevent technological obsolescence, with migration plans in place when needed.

  • DOI assignment: Each article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), ensuring its long-term retrievability and identification.

  • Multiple file formats: Articles are stored in various formats (PDF, HTML, XML-JATS) to ensure accessibility and support for future formats.

  • Minimization of technological dependency: All technical processes are carefully documented to enhance system sustainability and resilience.

  • Active preservation strategies: Techniques such as data refreshing, technology migration, digital archaeology, and software preservation are applied to maintain content integrity.

In addition, the journal participates in the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) Private Network and the Public Knowledge Project’s Private LOCKSS Network (PKP-PLN), which enables distributed storage of the journal’s content across partner libraries for secure and decentralized preservation.

These efforts ensure that all published content remains accessible, secure, and preserved over time.
