Editorial Ethics

Nexus Científico Multidisciplinary Journal en Ingeniería y Tecnología (NCMJIT) adopts and applies the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), internationally recognized as a reference in matters of academic integrity, editorial transparency, scientific responsibility and good practices in the dissemination of knowledge.

Authorship and Contribution

Authors and reviewers must use the journal’s official submission and evaluation system. If inconsistencies are detected between the credentials provided and the identity declared by an author or reviewer, a formal verification procedure will be initiated. If the identity cannot be clearly and documentarily verified, the editorial process will be suspended. If such irregularities are identified after publication, the article may be subject to formal correction or retraction, depending on the severity of the case.

Authorship criteria are defined in the guidelines for authors. Only those who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the work shall be considered authors. Each author must have participated significantly in the conception or design of the study, the collection, analysis or interpretation of data, the development of tools or software when applicable, or the writing or critical revision of the manuscript. All authors must approve the final submitted version and assume public responsibility for both their individual contributions and the overall integrity of the work.

Individual contributions must be explicitly declared in the submission system, using full names or initials. The contribution statement must clearly specify who designed the research, who collected and analyzed the information, who drafted the text and who carried out substantial revisions. Only those who have effectively contributed to the final version of the manuscript may be listed as authors.

Before submitting the manuscript, certain conditions must be met. Authors are required to properly acknowledge academic background through relevant citations. The work must be original and must not have been previously published in a manner that conflicts with the open access license. It must not be under simultaneous evaluation in another journal. All authors must formally approve the submission and consent to the inclusion of their professional information. Likewise, they must have the necessary legal rights to submit the manuscript and authorize its publication under an open access license. Any third-party material must have the corresponding permissions. The information presented must be truthful, complete and aligned with current ethical and scientific standards. The data and materials used must have been obtained legally and in accordance with applicable regulations. Authors accept that their names, affiliations and contact details may be visible on the journal platform and associated systems.

Authorship matters will be supervised throughout the editorial process. Any modification to the list of authors, whether in order, addition or removal, will require the written consent of all persons involved. In case of authorship disputes, the editorial process will be suspended until the situation is formally resolved.

Research Ethics Statement

All submitted research must comply with the ethical standards recognized in the corresponding discipline. In studies involving human beings or animals, approval granted by an ethics committee or competent institutional body must be explicitly indicated in the Methods section. When no formal ethical review mechanism exists, authors must explain how the applicable ethical principles were guaranteed. Informed consent from human participants is mandatory, except in duly justified exceptional cases.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors must declare any financial, professional or personal interest that could be interpreted as influencing the research or the interpretation of results. These declarations must be submitted at the time of manuscript submission. If undeclared conflicts are identified during the evaluation process, the process will be suspended until clarification is provided. If such conflicts are detected after publication, corrective measures may be adopted or, where appropriate, the article may be retracted.

Disclosure of Financial Support and Funding Sources

All sources of funding related to the research must be transparently reported. The declaration must include the full name of the funding entities, project numbers when applicable, and a precise explanation of the role played by the funders in the study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, writing or publication decision.

If there was no external funding, this must be expressly stated.

The funding statement seeks to ensure academic transparency and does not imply any influence on editorial decisions. Nexus Científico Multidisciplinary Journal en Ingeniería y Tecnología does not charge article processing charges (APC) and does not obtain economic benefits from funded projects. Editorial decisions are made independently and based exclusively on scientific and ethical criteria.

Omission or falsification of funding information shall constitute an ethical violation.

Acknowledgements for Non-Author Contributions

Individuals who contributed to the work without meeting authorship criteria must be mentioned in the Acknowledgements section. These contributions may include technical support, methodological advice or preliminary manuscript review. Before including names, the consent of the persons mentioned must be obtained. This section must be used appropriately and concisely.

Data and Reproducibility

The journal actively promotes transparency and the possibility of scientific replication. For consideration, manuscripts must describe data, methods and procedures in sufficient detail to allow verification. When public databases are used, the necessary elements to reproduce the analyses must be provided. When original data are generated, their deposit in reliable digital repositories is recommended, unless ethical or legal restrictions are duly justified.

Ethical Oversight

All research must comply with the ethical and regulatory frameworks in force in the country where it was conducted. Special attention will be given to studies involving vulnerable populations. Authors must guarantee the protection of participants’ rights and confidentiality. In the event of possible breaches, the journal may initiate review procedures, granting authors the opportunity to respond and adopting proportional measures according to the case.

Preprints

The dissemination of preliminary versions (preprints) in institutional repositories or non-commercial servers is permitted. Such dissemination is not considered prior publication and does not prevent subsequent evaluation by the journal. Authors must update the preprint record with the link to the published version.
