Abstract

Vehicle washing and lubrication stations represent work environments with a high risk of fire due to the constant handling of flammable substances, the presence of electrical installations and the lack of adequate preventive measures. In this context, the aim of this study was to design a fire emergency plan for a vehicle washing and lubrication station, based on the identification of fire risk factors and the assessment of existing safety conditions. The research followed an applied approach with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design, using descriptive and field methods. Data were collected through direct observation, a fire safety checklist, staff surveys, and the application of the MESERI and TOGAWA technical methods to assess fire risk and evacuation times. The results revealed a high level of fire risk, mainly associated with inadequate storage of oils and lubricants, lack of operational fire extinguishing equipment, absence of safety signage and limited staff response capacity, evidenced by insufficient knowledge of emergency procedures and the absence of drills. In addition, the technical analysis indicated unacceptable evacuation times and a high level of vulnerability of the facility. In conclusion, the design of a fire emergency plan adapted to the real conditions of the environment is essential to reduce the identified risk, strengthen staff response capacity and ensure the safety of people, facilities and the surrounding environment.
