Abstract

This work aims to strengthen and preserve the Esmeraldeña cultural identity, with an intergenerational, political, and educational approach. The participation of diverse generations and institutional support are fundamental to ensuring the preservation of culture. Esmeraldas possesses a cultural heritage that includes phrases, recipes, and ancestral beliefs, a legacy that fosters social cohesion and cultural pride. Rescuing and keeping these elements alive allows communities to reaffirm their identity and project their values into the future. An integration between theory and practice is proposed, promoting a participatory and collaborative approach where the community takes an active role in preserving their heritage. Thus, not only is Esmeraldian identity strengthened, but a sense of belonging and pride is also promoted in current and future generations.

The sources allowed for the construction of clear criteria, highlighting the relevance of the practice and transmission of traditions. The dialogue with social groups and the surveys applied to students demonstrate the urgency of strengthening the ancestral legacy in the present generations. Cultural actors such as the Esmeraldian poet and writer Ab. Julio Micolta Cuero emphasize that greater importance should be given to the issue of rescuing and revaluing Esmeraldian culture and traditions. The Early Childhood Education Program at UTELVT could analyze cultural and educational aspects in order to incorporate topics into its curriculum that lead to the revaluation and perpetuity of cultural identity. UNESCO (2003) establishes that intangible cultural heritage includes oral traditions, social practices, and traditional knowledge.
