Abstract

In contemporary electoral processes, social media has become an indispensable communication channel, while simultaneously exposing candidates to highly vulnerable scenarios that can compromise the effectiveness of their campaigns. These risks may stem from the candidate’s own actions, behaviors within their close circle, or strategies from opponents seeking to damage their public image. Inappropriate statements, controversies involving relatives or collaborators, and the leakage of private information are examples of situations that, due to the immediacy of digital platforms, can quickly go viral and become decisive factors in electoral outcomes. The speed and massive reach of these networks amplify any error, significantly affecting the candidate’s credibility and legitimacy. Therefore, it is essential for campaign teams to design robust digital communication strategies that include systematic profile audits, training in social media management, crisis response protocols, and monitoring mechanisms to counteract attacks or misinformation, thus safeguarding the political message’s coherence and the candidate’s reputation.
