Abstract

Introduction: In recent years, student mental health and emotional well-being have become an increasing concern within educational systems. Factors such as academic stress, social pressures, and institutional demands can significantly affect students’ psychological balance, which has increased the interest in implementing psychotherapeutic strategies and psychological support programs in educational contexts. Methodology: This study was conducted through a narrative literature review. Academic databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, Google Scholar, and SciELO were consulted using keywords related to psychotherapy, emotional well-being, mental health, and students. The selected studies were qualitatively analyzed and organized into thematic categories related to student mental health problems, emotional well-being, and psychotherapeutic interventions in educational settings. Results: The reviewed literature shows a significant increase in mental health problems among students, particularly anxiety, depression, and academic stress. Additionally, the analyzed studies highlight that psychotherapeutic interventions, psychological counseling programs, and positive psychology-based strategies contribute to improving emotional well-being, strengthening socio-emotional skills, and reducing stress levels among students. Conclusions: Psychological support strategies and psychotherapeutic interventions implemented in educational institutions represent key tools for promoting students’ emotional well-being. Strengthening counseling services and developing institutional well-being programs can significantly improve student mental health and support their overall development.
